I’m James Buster, founder of Rocky Reserve — a veteran-owned wellness brand built from pain, perseverance, and purpose.

At 17, I joined the U.S. Army as an infantryman. Two years in, I broke my back — a pars fracture with a grade 2 slip at L5–S1. Over time, the injury worsened. By my early twenties, it pressed on my spinal cord and sciatic nerve. Overnight, I went from working nonstop to struggling just to walk. My life became the same story of so many others Im blessed to meet every day. 

Steroid injections helped me move, but the pain never truly left. Sleep was nearly impossible, and even simple things like bending over or tying my boots became a battle. I tried everything — prescriptions, painkillers, therapy, stretches — until a friend introduced me to CBD.

That moment changed everything. After a year of trial and error, my wife Angelina helped me to create a topical relief salve. The relief I felt gave me more than just comfort — it gave me hope. That’s when the idea for Calyx Frost was born — a CBD topical created from necessity, built through trial, and perfected with care.

Rocky Reserve exists to share that relief with others. Each product is crafted with integrity, intention, and respect for the working class and the men and women who serve. With growing regulation and government intervention Rocky Reserve meets all standards in the state of Idaho (some of the strictest in the country) and tests each batch through the Utah Department Of Agriculture.
